Fact: Burgers are one of my favorite foods! These skillet turkey burgers are juicy, easy enough for a weekday dinner, and so flavorful.
Some sweet potato fries just felt right to complete the meal. Have it on a bun, bunless, or open-faced. Have half portion sweet potato fries and a side salad or full portion of sweet potato fries. Modify to your needs and wants! You do you.

- Did you know avocados are 77% fat? They are high in monounsaturated fat, specifically oleic acid. Oleic acid is also found in olive oil and has been associated with reduced inflammation and even positive effects on genes related to cancer. Avocados also have the potential to help lower triglyceride and total cholesterol levels.
- “Sweet potatoes are healthier than white potatoes, right?” Per 100g: Sweet potatoes have 86 calories, 3g fiber, and 20g carbohydrates, and white potatoes have 77 calories, 2g fiber, and 17g carbohydrates. The difference is really in the micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) — Sweet potatoes have more vitamin E and vitamin A (hence the orange color!), these are antioxidants that help make your cells stronger. White potatoes have more vitamin C, potassium, folate, and iron. My take on it? Choose which sounds better to you and vary your vegetables throughout the day and week. #Balance

Skillet Turkey Burger with Avocado, Honey Mustard, and Sweet Potato Fries
Shredded cheese and panko take this turkey burger to the next level. Adding avocado and some honey mustard, mmm! Sweet potato fries just feel right to complete this meal!
Equipment
- Mixing bowl
- Plate
- Skillet
- Baking sheet
- Small bowl
- Knife
- Spoon
Ingredients
Turkey Burger Mixture
- 1# Ground Turkey
- 3/4 C Panko
- 1/2 C Shredded pepperjack/hot pepper blend or other shredded cheese
- 2 tsp. Dry mustard
- 2 tsp. Kosher salt
- 1 tsp. Garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp. Black pepper
For Preparing Turkey Burgers
- 1 Tbsp Butter (or oil)
- A pinch! Kosher salt
- 1 Avocado, sliced
- 4 Buns (Simple Truth 21 Grains and Seeds, St Pierre Brioche Buns, or any bun with at least 1 gram of fiber!)
- Optional: 4 lettuce leaves for topping or a handful of leafy greens
Honey Mustard
- 1/3 C Dijon mustard
- 1-2 Tbsp Pure honey Can increase to your desired sweetness!
Sweet Potato Fries
- 1 Bag Sweet potato fries I like Simple Truth or Alexa
- A pinch! Kosher salt
Instructions
- Wash yo’ hands and take off your rings.
- Grab a plate, and then gather the ingredients for the turkey burger mixture and a medium bowl. In the bowl, add all ingredients and mix. Mixing with your hands works best to get it well-incorporated. Just wash your hands afterwards!
- Form mixture into (4) patties. Pressing the middle down slightly more than the outside of the patty. If making ahead, cover and refrigerate. (Wash your hands!)
- Before starting to cook the burgers — Preheat oven to 425F for sweet potato fries, place them on baking sheet, and sprinkle a pinch of kosher salt on top, place in oven & set timer according to package directions.
- To cook the burgers — Place 1 Tbsp butter or oil in skillet & turn heat to medium. Place each patty in skillet and sprinkle a pinch of kosher salt on each. Cook each side for 8 minutes or until internal temp is 160F/no pink.
- Mix up ingredients for honey mustard in a small bowl. *Psst… To get the fries super crispy, turn to broil for a minute after fully baked.
- Dress up your burger with lettuce, sliced avocado and a drizzle of honey mustard. Plate & enjoy!
